About This Product
Electrons are produced in a vacuum tube holding a trace of argon and accelerated towards a counter-electrode. A small voltage barrier in front of that electrode lets through only electrons above a set energy, and these make up the measured current. Once an electron has enough energy to hand a quantum of energy to an argon atom, it can no longer pass the barrier and the current falls, so the repeated valleys in the current curve give basic evidence for quantum states.
